Check out what our fabulous and very talented Associate Director Linda Luke is up to with this wonderful workshop in Bellambi….
BodyWeather Bellambi invites dancers, performers and artists to the beautiful Bellambi beach to explore movement in relationship to the environment from the basis of BodyWeather. Bellambi beach is on the south coast, north of Wollongong, about 1hr 15min away from Sydney.
BodyWeather was founded by world-renowned Japanese dance artist Min Tanaka in the 1980s and has been in Australia since 1989, influencing a wide range of dance and performance practice. Its key premise is to be ‘danced by the outside’ and it is an enquiry into the relationship between the environment, our imagination and our experience of ‘self’.
The workshop will include a daily physical warm-up through the ‘MB’ (muscle/bone, mind/body): a training platform to build strength, flexibility, fitness and co-ordination. This will be followed by a series of activities to explore and increase sensitivity and open up new ways of perceiving and experiencing somatic movement and dance.
The workshop is for anyone interested in exploring the body. Dance experience and technical skills are not required but the workshop will be physically intensive.
