Build Your Practice
2 Day Workshop Led by Linda Luke
Friday 15 & Saturday 16 January 2016
9:30am – 2:30pm
This workshop will specifically explore the notion of presence in performance, how we ,the performer, meets the audience. We will consider the eyes, exploring various ways of looking: such as; looking out, looking in, seeing directly, seeing but not seeing. We will also explore a number or provocations from the bodyweather toolkit to find new articulations for moving. We will look at how these considerations can create particular tensions and relationship to time, space and architecture. This, in turn, might deepen our sense of ‘presence’, for ourselves and for an audience. The workshop is open to dancers, performers and anyone with an avid interest in body and performance.
BodyWeather was founded by world-renowned Japanese dance artist Min Tanaka in the 1980s and has been in Australia since 1989, influencing a wide range of dance and performance practice. Its key premise is to be ‘danced by the outside’ and it is an enquiry into the relationship between the environment, our imagination and our experience of ‘self’.
Early bird $90 (due Jan 7) late bird $120
