Come and join ReadyMade Works for First Run this Sunday 4 – 6pm, 23rd April at ReadyMade Studio.
Facilitated by Brooke Stamp and Rhiannon Newton. Featuring Omer Backley-Astrachan and Patricia Wood;
First Run is an informal gathering which supports two dance artists in sharing new ideas and material in the early phase of development, or to present excerpts of work they’re interested in having a deeper discussion around. There will be brief presentation of the artists work followed by a discussion with the audience and artists, facilitated by Brooke Stamp and Rhiannon Newton.
Omer Backley-Astrachan and Patricia Wood will be sharing the following;
Omer will share an exert of a new work he is developing with dancers Sharon Backley-Astrachan, Mathew Mizyed and Allie Graham. Omer takes his starting point from an embodied response to a frozen island on the edge of the arctic. The still, un-changing landscape and it’s greyness have inspired sensations of the lone body, its freedom in solitude, sensuality and quietness.
Patricia has been working with translating dance – from the body to the radio airwaves, from VHS to live performance, from the past to the present. Thinking about legends, namesakes, re-presentation and how to hold space for dancing to take place, Trish will share some new ideas she is currently working through.
FIRST RUN was initiated by Lucy Guerin Inc in 2008 in Melbourne, running regularly each year since at the company’s studio.FIRST RUN, Sydney is a partnership between Critical Path and ReadyMade Works in collaboration with Lucy Guerin Inc and is supported by Arts NSW.
