ABOUT THE WORKSHOP
Anthony’s core approach is the 12 step Ivana Chubbuck Technique which he’s a Certified Teacher of, having been trained by Ivana in LA and Australia over a period of more than 10 years. The Ivana Chubbuck Technique is used by many A-list actors such as Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Charlize Theron, and Jake Gyllenhaal, and Anthony’s training with Larry Moss, Eric Morris and Elizabeth Kemp, and in the Strasberg and Meisner Techniques, as well as his own exercises flesh out the tools, exercises and approach he uses with actors.
Participants will be allocated exciting scenes from quality theatre, TV or movie scripts, and will receive holistic coaching and tools in the following areas of the craft:
- Being detailed in one’s detective work on the script – mining every single clue in the script for how to play your role
- Understanding and honouring the inherent rhythm of the scene – and using this to power and properly pace the scene rather than have it “flatline”
- Emotional triggers – how to elicit your character’s emotions on demand
- How to use the tool of substitution so it really works for you to connect you to your character and what they need in the scene
- The importance of your body as a storyteller
- Being intentional with your blocking
- Using the fourth wall for maximum storytelling impact
- Being specific in how you work with props and objects
- The importance of voice, speech and accent
- How to create powerful emotional and sexual chemistry with your scene partner and your audience – vital for being cast in lead and major roles
- The mindset of a successful working actor
