ReadyMade Works is excited to announce the residents of their SOLO dance program for 2015. Lizzie Thomson, Matt Cornell and Ivey Wawn. Over the next month these three artists will be in the space investigating ideas and concepts that are of interest to their practice and performance work.
Lizzie Thomson will explore questions around her increasing interest in words and the role that they play in her practice. Habitually, she uses words as a generative support during processes of making work, but then allows these words to disappear, or to fall into the background of her performance works. Where do they go? What if they were kept in the foreground of her work throughout the entire process, from idea to presentation outcome?
Matt Cornell is interested in the movement made available through the physical state of JoY, the implications this has for choreographic practice, and the synchronicity it invites from a viewer. Matt will be joined by valued collaborator and fellow dancer Rhiannon Newton. Furthermore, this project is a co-creation with Jenni Large who will be involved remotely during this development.
Ivey Wawn will spend my time reproducing found dances in an attempt to reposition the body, with respect to the dance as a disembodied other. She will also use this practice toward forming a choreography for the showing on the 30th October.
The residency program is funded by ReadyMade Works through space and cash to support the moving arts community in Sydney. For more information about ReadyMade Works go to www.readymadeworks.com.au.
